News & Updates

Spirit of Sharing 2007 was a huge success!!! Together, we made a significant impact in the North County area.  Where we initially had a goal to assist at least 40 families, we were successful in assisting 51 families.

This was no small feat.  Together, with your assistance we personally interviewed each family, shopped for all the children providing them with Educational toys, clothing and Christmas fun!  We also provided the families with a shopping cart full of food items.  Each gift was personally labled and individually wrapped prior to delivery.  Our volunteers make all the difference.

The highlights this year for us were assisting a family that had been burned out of their home while the husband was deployed.  This family has a son and a small infant.  While delivering the gifts to the new apartment, we realized they did not have a Christmas tree, so through the kindness of our volunteers a tree was secured and delivered the very next morning.

Other interesting highlights for us include providing Christmas for one of our wounded warriors and having the opportunity to thank him for all that he has done and sacraficed so that we may continue to do all that we do.

Spirit of Sharing (S.O.S) has had it's most successful year to date and this is in part due to the sheer number of volunteers!!  S.O.S has no paid employees and operates solely on the kindness of others.  This year we opened up and asked for some of our families receiving assistance if they would be willing to assist in wrapping gifts for other families;  the outpouring of assistance was just incredible.  Our most devoted volunteer was Asleigh Olmedo who spent unending hours assisting us in coordinating, wrapping and delivering gifts.  She truly made a difference!

Out of all of our community supporters, and this year there were many, one stand out in my mind;  Terry Nations from Clear Sign and Design, Inc., he arrived at our offices with car loads of toys purchased for every age group imagineable!  From school supplies to new bicycles, his donations made a significant impact and his generosity made more than a few of us cry.
